Dear People-Pleasing Girl –

The little girl trying to be invisible at school, afraid to speak up and make a mistake…
The daughter who agrees to follow her mom’s dreams other than her own…
The wife who gives up her desires and preferences to avoid conflict… e.v.e.r.y. t.i.m.e.
The mother who is afraid of losing her child’s love for standing firm on her convictions.
My heart is heavy for you!
You have given up so much in the name of peace… and sacrificed your own peace of mind for the sake of others. You have said yes when your heart screamed “NO!” You have cried many tears for not having the courage to take the road less traveled.
Oh, the turmoil your fears have created! All because you fear losing.
Losing love…
Losing opportunities…
Losing respect…
Losing people.
I see your tears… and I know your heart. So today, I thought I’d remind you of the truth about fear.
Dear daughter – fear is the Number One tool that the enemy of your soul uses to steal the Joy I died to give you. That is why I filled my Love Letter to you with these two words: “Fear Not.” Did you know that this blessed commandment (yes, it was not a mere suggestion) is repeated 365 times in My Word? I meant it to be something you remember every day. You are not to fear… ever!
Why? Because the Spirit you received does not make you a slave, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption. You became my child! And as My child, you can cry out: “Daddy!” and I will be there. (Romans 8:15 – paraphrased). Nothing can separate you from My love for you. (Romans 8:38-39)
Are you disregarding my instructions to please someone, for fear of rejection?
Are you afraid of standing in your convictions and turn loved ones away?
Have you become a shadow of your former joyful self for fear of losing?
Oh, dear girl… controlling the world is My task, not yours. Preserving your marriage, your children, your future, is My responsibility, not yours. Or do you not realize that the heart of your people-pleasing tendencies is a desperate desire to control the outcome of your situations?

Do you remember the peace that you found in complete surrender? It’s like you were a little girl again, jumping from a wall into your daddy’s arms… knowing he was there to hold you. Knowing he would never let you fall.
You just knew I had your back. And peace and joy flooded your soul.
So, what happened?
When did a sinful person’s opinion become more important than Mine? When did gaining their approval supersede pleasing Me?
Look up, Child!
Remember that I am the only One you must please. When you do that, I cause “all things to work together for your good… and my glory.” (Romans 8:28)
Even if from earth’s perspective it looks like you have much to lose… Fearlessly stand by My Word! You can still love them while standing by your convictions.
Forget trying to please everyone. That will never happen. Defeat this lie that if you don’t agree with them you might lose them. For if you lose them that easily, that means you never had them anyway. You must let them go. And then let Me deal with them.

Now straighten up your back. Chin up. Stand tall. You are My daughter, heiress of My Kingdom, and the apple of My Eye.
There is nothing you can do to make me love you more.
