Bible Verse:

“But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth” 1 John 3:17-18

It was only 5 days after Christmas. I brought my skateboard that I got for Christmas to a friend’s house to celebrate New Year’s Eve. I had just finished riding my skateboard when we all decided to go jump on their trampoline. So I left it outside in the middle of the driveway.

We were still outside playing on the trampoline when my mom called me inside to talk to me. She asked me where my skateboard was. I told her it was on driveway. That’s when she held my skate board up. It was broken in half and  both sets of wheels were broken off.

I was choking back the tears. One of our friends had just backed out of the driveway to go home, didn’t see the skateboard and ran over it with her car!

I had my gifts that I so wanted for only 5 days!!!!!

But I realized that it was my fault. I should have taken care of it because I loved it.

The same principle with my skateboard story is true with friendships. If you don’t take care of them, then they will break. And nobody wants that! I didn’t take care of my skateboard, so it got ruined.

So here’s the lesson I learned and now share with you: Take care of your items, friendships, and things that you love!

The next time that you think about leaving a toy in the wrong  place, or, the next time you need to take better care of a friendship, just remember this:

I had been struggling for some time, wondering whether or not God is real. I talked to my mom about it. I asked her – what if the bible is ust another book, like The Chronicles of Narnia? She told me that believing is a matter of faith, like for example we believe in the wind but we cannot see it! She also told me that the only way I would know that God is real is if I read my bible more often and prayed more. My mom then said that if I asked, God would speak to me that very day.

So I went to my room and read my Jesus Calling for kids (By the way, you should totally get it – it really strengthens your faith!!).

Before I began reading, I prayed and asked God to talk to me. I opened up my Jesus Calling book to that day and it was about listening to God’s voice. The bible verse for that day was the one I wrote above Ephesians 4:5-6: “There is ONE God…”

I came downstairs crying out of joy!!! I could tell that God was speaking to me, showing me how real He really is. I now have assurance that God is real!! He really spoke to me and I have not been the same since that day.

God answers your prayers and He wants to show you how real He really is! You just have to pray and ask him. Here is a good verse to go with that, Matthew 7:7  “Ask and you shall receive, Seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened to you.”

Something happened to my uncle similar to what happened to Nate in the book. Nate Saint was in a plane crash and was horribly injured. Well, on June 30th, 2012 my uncle, Donnie Holbrook’s plane crashed. Sadly, he did not make it. The whole family was devastated. But we know that he is in a better place now. Since then we have been knocking on Heaven’s door every day and asking Him for strength and comfort. And He has been there for us every time.

This book taught me that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). It also taught me that Jesus wants all that we do to please him. I’ve learned so many great things!! You should really read it.

I have goals. And I know with God’s help, I can accomplish them. Some of my goals or dreams are: to do something like writing songs, or maybe writing a book, speaking about Jesus and helping with Operation Christmas Child. My mom is working on having her ministry support that organization, so that goal may be accomplished really soon! Also, one day, I hope to have my own blog!!!!

This book has also helped me to see missionaries with a whole new perspective!!! It made me want to serve God, throughout my life. Even though I am young, with God, I can do great things! It makes me happy to want to help others through ministry .Even though I may not know what God’s plan for me is yet, I can begin by doing little things. Only God knows what the future holds. He knows I love Him and want to help others find Him.
What are your goals? You’re never too young to start writing them down.

That is one of my favorite verses. I love how it tells you that you can still tell the world about Jesus, no matter how young you are. So no matter what age you are you still need to witness to others. Here are some good ways to spread the good news of Jesus Christ: You can invite a friend to VBS or to church. You can help with church activities. You can have a devotional time with your little brother or sister, or kids in your neighborhood. And most importantly, you can pray. Ask God to allow you to help that person understand about Jesus. And trust me, He will!

Let’s see what Paul meant when he wrote this letter on how to act. He said to set an example to other believers in several ways:

1) In Speech ( the way we speak to each other)

2) In Conduct ( the way that we act)

3) In Love ( the way that we care for each other)

4) In Faith (the way that we believe that God is who says He is in the Bible and will do what He promises), and

5) In Purity (to keep our heart, and our mind with good, pure thoughts)

But if you don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, it will be hard for you to be able to live that way and do the things that I just talked about. First you need to ask Him to forgive you of your sins, ask him to save you so He can help you live that way.

If you would like to accept Jesus into your heart you can ask a Christian adult to help you by answering any questions that you might have. You can also say this prayer: Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, please forgive me of all my sins, and come into my heart , so that whenever I die, I will go to heaven and live with you forever and ever, in Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.

That verse that I wrote above is the reason why we celebrate Easter. To celebrate that Jesus is not dead, but He is surely alive! Jesus died and rose again to save us from our sins. We know that He was risen because of two reasons: 1) The Bible tells us that He rose (and the Bible, since it is God’s Word, is our proof that Jesus and God are real) and 2) Because many people saw Him after He rose from the dead. In fact, according to 1 Corinthians 15: 5-6 , 500 people saw Him after the Resurrection.

I don’t know about you, but I think that all believers at some point in life question whether Jesus is real. At least I know that I did. I was sitting in church one Sunday morning, and my pastor said that Jesus loves me like crazy. Right after he said that, Jesus spoke to my heart and said that He is surely real. If I believe that there is wind, although I cannot see it, then why would I not believe in a God that I cannot see, but who speaks in my heart?

But Jesus only speaks in the hearts of believers. If you are not saved and want to become a Christian, then ask your parents or a Christian adult you know to explain to you how. They will pray with you. You can also say this simple little prayer, if you believe that Jesus is God and died and rose again: “Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner, I want you to live in my heart, please forgive me of my sins, so that when I die I will go to Heaven and live with you forever and ever. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”

When you believe and pray that prayer, God welcomes you into His family and you start a new Christian life. If you go to church, speak to your pastor about you accepting Jesus. Remember to pray, and read your Bible. As my mom says, that is the only way you will be sure that our God is real.

Many kids have problems at school when other children pick on them because they are different. It happens even more to us, children who know Jesus, when we don’t want to participate in things that we know are wrong. But we should remember that the only opinions which matter are our parents’ and God’s.

God made each and every one of us unique. And followers of Christ should be even more different because we should
have a special light shining through us to make people want to know Jesus. Can you believe that there is not one person in the world that is exactly like you? And that there is no one with the same fingerprint as yours!!

God created all of us to tell others about him and his glory. We need to act like Jesus in order for people to want to be like us as followers of the Almighty God.

God does not want us to be like the world. He wants us to live for him so that people can look at us and think “Why are they not doing this?” and “Why are they acting that way.” By acting like believers we can
change the world! And we can start even as little children.

So the next time that someone is mean to you because you are different, or refuse to act like them, remember that God made you unique. No matter what anyone thinks, to Jesus, you are the coolest kid at school! Jesus is crazy about you!!

Why don’t you take a moment to pray and thank God for making us different than the rest of the world. This week, tell one of your friends that they are unique and that God loves them just as they are.
