Update As many of you know, my yearly cancer check up was inconclusive last November. I had only two more annual CT scans before the doctor would release me for good, when a "spot" was found in my kidney, close to the place where they removed a cancerous tumor from my left kidney in April 2012. The doctor said it could just be surgery residue, but they couldn't confirm it for sure. Therefore we embarked on a 5-month wait until the next scan. I wrote about it on this blog: "The Big C - In God's Continue Reading
Finding Peace in the Midst of the Storms – Atlanta Journal Constitution Column
Shortly after midnight on Oct. 23, hurricane Patricia became the strongest Pacific hurricane on record in the Americas. My phone started buzzing with texts from my family and friends that morning, since my name was soon to be associated with the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Pacific coast. I watched as real-time videos of the horrific storm popped on my computer screen, praying for the areas on its path. As it turned out, Patricia’s intensity decreased very quickly as the storm’s Continue Reading
Book Give Away! And Excerpt: “Setting People FREE”
I was resting in bed upstairs as I recovered from a major surgery. My children’s laughter reached the bedroom and woke me up. They were giggling of excitement as grandma once again came up with a new, creative way to play with them. I smiled and uttered a prayer of thanksgiving for my mom. Once again, this loving woman had dropped everything in her life and had flown 6,000 miles to take care of me and my family in a time of need. Regardless of distance, time or cost, I know that as long as Continue Reading
Dr. Charles Stanley receives a copy of Twelve Inches
A Great Way to Celebrate I had been waiting for this day for a while. And isn't it just like God that it actually happened two days before the official release of the paperback version of my first book Twelve Inches on retailers! I didn't plan it that way at all. God is just that GOOD! I have spoken at conferences with over 500 women in attendance before. I've spoken at live television shows. Yes, it never gets old and I always tremble. Yesterday, as I stood before the man who was used by Continue Reading
When Your Mind is Starving (Excerpt from Twelve Inches)
Author’s Note: This week’s blog post contains excerpts from the first chapter of my new book “Twelve Inches”. If we are to bridge the gap between what we KNOW about our God and our emotions, the first thing we must do is address those things that make the disconnection. Item number ONE is what we are feeding our minds… “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable Continue Reading
Twelve Inches Release Party! Pictures
I woke up yesterday morning and had this strange feeling that it was all a dream. Did that ever happen to you? It has happened before, like when I found out I had cancer... or when my brother-in-law died. You wake up and, and during that stage between being fully awake and sleeping, you have the impression that it was only a nightmare. Then the hard realization that it wasn't hits you.... you are indeed living the nightmare. This morning I had the same feeling when I first woke up - Continue Reading
